I have to admit, seeing Simon Cowell walk out my bathroom did make me giggle. He had arrived early with Mrs Brown, another look-alike and spit of the real thing. They were guests of Celeb FC; an agency run by Wimbledon resident Karin Flower, who organises celebrities and influencers to play football and attend events for charity.

Why were they in my house? Well, it was Wimbledon Guild’s befriender campaign that made me wonder how we could help bring carers to those feeling isolated in Merton. It’s no secret I love to throw a good party, so this time, underneath all the fun would be a worthy cause.

With mouth-watering canapés catered by NC Supper Clubs, who bring top chefs to people’s homes and a room filled with Brian Kirkby flowers, it was looking to be a very special occasion. Over 80 guests attended, including Big Brother’s Marlon Wallen and the Mayor of Merton. We enjoyed music by ‘So Sinatra’ and an impromptu late night performance by X-Factor’s Derry Mensa. To add to the antics, there was even a magic mirror and candy cart gifted by Taylored Events.

Already raising nearly £1,000 for Merton residents suffering from isolation, we will continue to raise the profile of Wimbledon Guild’s campaign. However, we are not alone in supporting such worthwhile causes. The Alexandra pub continues to bring people together on ‘Meet up Mondays,’ whilst Centre Court Shops have teamed up with The British Heart Foundation.

There is certainly a whole lot of love around Wimbledon this February.

Happy Valentines Week
