The search for Croydon’s youngest library member is over.
Three-day-old, Luca Hussein won the title after being registered in Norbury.
32 day old Darragh Tracey was another one of the 122 youngsters whose parents signed them up for a card in June.
Librarians hope to have encouraged parents to take advantage of the wide range of activities on offer for young families.
Councillor Sara Bashford, said: “Although this competition is a bit of fun, it does underline the really important work that our libraries do providing an early years reading service for even the youngest of our residents.
I hope to be seeing Luca and his friends studying for their A-Levels in a Croydon Library in 18 years from now.”
The search was part of Croydon's celebration of 'National BookStart Day' which took place on June 11.
There was a range of activities on offer such as ‘Rock and Rhyme’, and singer/storyteller Alison Blunt performed in front of the ten young winners after they had received prizes from the Mayor in the children’s section of the central library.
