A 32-year-old man caught with a loaded gun in Battersea was jailed for five years.
Mark Omar Jamal White was busted with the weapon when pulled over by police in Tregarvon Road, on March 1.
White had been in the passenger seat of the blue Mini with the firearm resting by his feet. A search of his Wimbledon Park Road home later uncovered some CS spray and a forged driving licence.
He pleaded guilty to all the offences at Kingston Crown Court, before being sentenced at the same court on August 31.
PC Tony Holley said: "This sentence reflects the truly serious nature of the offence, which took place in the vicinity of a number of recent reported shootings. I hope bringing this man to justice will contribute to the public's reassurance in our handling of gun-enabled crime."
