Furzedown is one of the 10 best places to live in London, according to The Sunday Times.

Selected alongside Fulham, Bermondsey, Richmond, and King’s Cross, it comes as the supplement publishes its ‘Best Places to Live Guide’ this weekend (March 18).

Furzedown was described as an ‘urban village that’s cheaper than Balham, but less gritty than Streatham, with leafy side streets and a vibrant community spirit’.

Helen Davies, home editor for The Sunday Times, said: “Choosing the right location to put down roots is one of the most important decisions you’ll make.

“Which is why we’re here to help – and what Best Places to Live in Britain is all about. We’re very excited that this is a standalone magazine this year.

“There is much to celebrate, and Britain is scattered with thriving towns and villages, cool cities and suburbs, though people may be surprised how many traditional favourites haven’t made the cut in 2018.”

In collaboration with online mortgage broker Habito, a combination of statistics and a judging panel led to the verdict.

Numerous factors were assessed, including jobs, schools, broadband speed, culture, community spirit, and local shops.

Several regions across the United Kingdom are listed as well in the soon-to-be-released guide.

The following is the top 10 list (not in order of ranking):

- Bermondsey, Southwark

- Clapton, Hackney

- Fulham, Hammersmith and Fulham

- Furzedown, Wandsworth

- Herne Hill, Lambeth and Southwark

- King’s Cross, Camden and Islington

- Richmond, Richmond

- Notting Hill, Kensington and Chelsea

- Tufnell Park, Camden and Islington

- Wanstead, Redbridge
