An elderly man was allegedly held at knife point by four thieves on mopeds in Tooting yesterday afternoon (September 20).
The thieves are said to have stolen two gold rings, including his wedding ring, and fled the scene before reporting the crime to police 15 minutes later after walking into Tooting police station.
A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "The elderly man had a knife pointed at his belly and they demanded his rings. They didn't take his wallet."
A Met spokesperson said: “Police received reports of a robbery at approximately 2pm on Wednesday, September 20, on Ascot Road, Tooting, in which an elderly male was allegedly threatened with a knife and had his property stolen by a group of youths on mopeds.
“There have been no arrests as enquiries continue.”
UPDATE: An earlier version of this article said the man was reported to have been attacked after leaving in The Ramble Inn, Mitcham Road. It is now clear this was not the case.
