Reece Robinson-Webber died after a police chase on Saturday night.
The 15-year-old had been riding his moped in Greenhurst Road, West Norwood about 8.40pm when officers tried to pull him over.
When he failed to stop police pursued him.
The teen, who is thought to have been on the way to a family friend's 50th birthday party, came off the moped five minutes later in Lancaster Avenue, Tulse Hill.
The police gave first aid at the scene and the London Ambulance Service was called.
Reece, who lived in Tulse Hill, was rushed to a south London hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
