Justice has been done, says Bellfield victim
Survivor: Kate Sheedy
Survivor: Kate Sheedy

Petite blonde Kate Sheedy who was mowed down by bus stop stalker Levi Bellfield and left for dead said "justice had been done" after he was found guilty of attempting to kill her.

The Isleworth student, now 21, bowed her head and wiped away tears as her friends in the public gallery cheered and pumped their fists in the air when the foreman of the jury delivered the verdict at the Old Bailey.

Once outside the courtroom a smiling Kate embraced mum Eileen, dad James, her younger sister and boyfriend Henry, along with police officers who have supported her since 2004, saying: "I can't believe it".

Clearly nervous, yet elated, she read a short statement to press outside the court.

She said: "I've waited for nearly four years for this day and it's hard to express how much this means to me that justice has been done.

"At the time I was celebrating moving on to a new chapter in my life. All that hope and excitement was taken from me and I thought my life had changed for ever.

"The road to recovery was long and hard. With this verdict I can finally move on with my life and put this behind me."

She added: "Attending court and facing my attacker was difficult but something I felt was important.

"The fact that Bellfield has been found guilty means more to me than I could possibly say."

She walked quickly back into the building amid cheers from supporters.
