An elderly woman was rescued after a blaze broke out at a Mitcham home.
Firefighers were called to the fire at a house in Hengelo Gardens at 10.21am which damaged part of the ground floor and caused heavy smoke damage throughout the building.
An elderly woman, who was suffering from smoke inhalation, was led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Fire crews from Mitcham and Sutton fire stations brought the fire under control by 10.50am.
