Thousands of fans celebrated late into the night on Saturday in Twickenham, the home of English rugby.

Up to 600 punters crammed into the Cabbage Patch pub for the gripping match which saw England beat France and win a place in the world cup final.

Gordon Jones, barman at the Cabbage Patch, and originally from Australia, said: "Everyone was in good spirits.

"The walls were vibrating when they sung 'Swing Low, Sweet Chariot' "It's quite interesting from an Australian's point of view, but fair play to England.

"They have been written off from the start, but have done a lot better than everyone thought they would."

England will now face either South Africa or Argentina in the final on Saturday.
