Two teen gang members have been hit with Asbos for a catalogue of offences.

Tyrell Ellis, 17, from Sylvan Hill, Upper Norwood and Jean Louis Tomety, 17, from Fernham Road, Thornton Heath have both been banned from Croydon and Thornton Heath town centres as part of the two year order.

They are both also banned from seeing members of their gangs including each other.

The pair, both members of the SMN gang, were convicted at Croydon Youth Court on June 25 for gang related disorder in Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath on November 24 last year.

According to police the pair were responsible for street robbery, and threatening members of the public with violence and assaulting people. They had also verbally abused shop staff, and breeched previous good behaviour agreements.

And the Thornton Heath Safer Neighbourhood Team, which secured the Asbos, is hoping members of the public will report the pair if they are seen breeching the conditions of their orders.

PC Fred Morgan, from Thornton Heath Safer Neighbourhood team, said: "Tackling antisocial behaviour in Thornton Heath has been a ward priority. Securing dispersal orders to tackle gang related crime, disorder and anti social behaviour have proved to be successful.

"We currently have a dispersal order in place, which expires in August but we will be seeking to apply for a further extension following its success. We will use every available piece of legislation available to us, including the use of Acceptable Behaviour Agreements (ABA's), in partnership with the local authority.

"These two individuals both had ABA's but both failed to keep to the conditions and their behaviour had descended into more serious criminality, hence us applying for Anti Social Behaviour Orders (ASBO's) for them. The conditions of the ASBO's are clear."
