Detectives have released details of the route taken by a rapist in Epsom last Wednesday before he attacked a 25-year-old woman.

Police are hunting two black men who met the woman at the Assembly Rooms pub in High Street, at around 10pm on September 7.

When the pub closed at about midnight, the woman was taken to an address where she was raped.

Police are still checking CCTV images from the pub and town centre but have pieced together the route along which she was taken.

Detective Sergeant Clive Vale said: "Some witnesses have already come forward and we believe the victim was taken north along Waterloo Road before she was attacked.

"I appeal to anyone who lives in Chase Road, Temple Road, Hook Road or Pound Lane who may have seen or heard something suspicious late on Wednesday, September 7 or into the early hours of Thursday, September 8, to come forward.

"This was a terrifying ordeal which has understandably left a young woman very traumatised.

"I am also appealing to anyone who was out in Epsom on Wednesday, 7 September and remembers seeing two men matching the suspects’ descriptions to speak with an officer."

Epsom Neighbourhood Inspector Craig Knight added: "Offences of this nature are very rare indeed and it is vital that we all do everything within our power to bring these offenders to justice and protect our community.

"If you were in the area of Epsom town at the time please think carefully and report to us anything you feel may help, however small, as this may be a vital piece of evidence that secures the arrests of the offenders in this case."

One of the men was in his late 20s, approximately 5ft 9in, medium build and with a shaved head and wearing blue jeans.

The other spoke with an American accent.
