Flowers left at the spot where 14-year-old dancer Alessia Boschiazzo was fatally injured in a hit and run
Flowers have been left by mourners where a 14-year-old dancer was fatally injured in a hit and run.
Alessia Boschiazzo, 14, whose parents are understood to live in Sutton and Carshalton, died in hospital on Friday afternoon.
She had been in a coma for a week after being mowed down by a car in Morland Road, Croydon last Friday at 7pm.
The student, who attended Ursuline High School in Wimbledon, was crossing the road to visit friends when she was hit by a speeding car.
Flowers and tributes were left yesterday by loved-ones at the scene of the fatal collision.
Iain Beaton, who works at Classic Automobiles in Morland Road, said yesterday up to 40 people, many of them teenagers, carried out a candle-lit vigil that lasted several hours.
He said: “It was a very sad scene.”
Police are still looking for the driver and registered owner of the car involved.
Witnesses described the driver as a white man, believed to be in his 20s, with short hair.
A green Renault Clio was seen speeding away from the scene and was found a short time later, burnt out in Davies Close.
Police are urgently appealing for witnesses to the incident or to anyone who has seen a green Renault Clio, with T861 JKP registration within the past month.
If you have any information call Catford collision investigation unit on 020 8285 1574 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Every parents nightmare to loose a child. I have a daughter and feel so sad for this family and for the lost life this young lady never had a chance to live.
Whomever did this obviously stole the car (burnt out) and hopefully is feeling so much inner turmoil that either they will turn themselves in or suffer karma.
