A girl has been found guilty of animal cruelty after she threw a Battersea rescue cat overboard from the Thames warship that had adopted her.
Kilo the cat was rescued by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and then adopted by the crew of HMS Belfast along with his brother Oscar last year.
However, he is feared to have drowned after the 16-year-old girl threw him off the ship.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was seen throwing Kilo from a gangway that connects the ship between London Bridge and Tower Bridge on February 9.
He has not been seen since.
The girl was found guilty of animal cruelty last month at Camberwell Youth Court and given a nine-month supervision order.
A spokeswoman for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home said: "We are pleased that the culprit was apprehended and convicted in court for this awful act of animal cruelty."
