One in five train communters have lost their Christmas shopping during the festive season, according to insurance broker Towergate.
63 per cent of those who lost personal items and shopping bags have blamed it on indulging in too much Christmas tipple.
Men are more likely to lose personal items such as a mobile phones (10 per cent) or wallets (eight per cent) at the office party.
While women more commonly misplace umbrellas (12 per cent) and gloves (seven per cent).
Drew Wotherspoon from Towergate comments: “At this time of year, commuters are often carrying valuable and newly bought gifts on their way to and from work.
Mr Wotherspoon urges the public to make sure they have adequate insurance when travelling around with expensive gifts.
