The prestigious awards recognise the best of the UK’s independent film and are one of a number of precursors which to the likes of the Oscars. The awards bash takes place at Old Billingsgate on Sunday, December 6.

The Lobster, 45 Years and Macbeth garnered the most nominations with seven, six and six respectively.

Chiswick’s Anne Marie Duff is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress Category, alongside her cast mate Helena Bonham Carter, and Shepherd’s Bush actress Bel Powley (A Royal Night Out) joins Southwark-born Mia Goth (The Survivalist) in the Most Promising Newcomer shortlist.

Earlier this week, Mulligan picked up one of the big prizes at the first big ceremony of the awards season, Best Actress at the Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills.
