A consultation is underway to see if people are in favour of transforming three parts of Upper Norwood into conservation areas.

Croydon Council has drawn up draft documents outlining the case for Harold Road, Church Road and Beulah Hill which it considers hold special architectural and historic value.

Centred on one of Upper Norwood’s grandest residential streets, Harold Road is formed of large Victorian villas built for those attracted to the area in the late 19th century by the relocated Crystal Palace.

The Church Road area encompasses Beaulieu Heights, Sylvan Hill and Grange Hill, as well as several listed buildings, while Beulah Hill contains a significant grouping of Georgian and Victorian homes.

The plans are available at Central Library, Norwood Library and Upper Norwood Triangle Library and online at croydon.gov.uk/caamps.

And there is going to be a drop-in event at Living Water Satisfies, Westow Street, Upper Norwood, on February 12, from 3pm to 8.30pm.

There will be an exhibition and council officers will be available at the cafe that afternoon to discuss the proposals.

The consultation deadline is March 9.
