Hampshire Roman road to be excavated over the summer

9:44am Monday 15th April 2013

THE chance to help excavate a Roman road in Hampshire is being offered this year by an archaeological society.

They will be trying to shed light on the Winchester to London road in the Four Marks area near Alresford over bank holidays until September.

It is being overseen by the North East Hampshire Archaeological Society.

It welcomes experienced excavators and novices. The minimum unaccompanied age is 16 although younger children are welcome with an adult.

Training will be available and everyone must join the society for insurance reasons, £10 for annual membership.

For further information contact society director Dr Richard Whaley on 01252 548115.
