Design company’s success is good customer relations

A local graphic design company, which started life in a spare bedroom, has celebrated its fifth year in business this month by moving to new premises in Sutton.

Art Division was launched at the Carshalton home of one its founders in 2001 and in 2004 the company's success led to a relocation to offices in Wallington.

This pattern of expansion continued this month when the Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Richard Bailey, officially opened new, bigger premises in Palmerston Road, Sutton, on Thursday, August 3.

Responding to the success, Nelly Berova, one of the company's three female partners, said: "It's a man's world out there. I think that being an all-female company makes us just that bit different.

"We really care about the relationship we have with our clients. We have a highly qualified team who, as experts in certain areas, can always deliver."

Ms Berova trained in multimedia at Carshalton College while fellow founder Natalie Piper studied at art college in her native Canada before moving to the UK.

After founding Art Division with third partner Cristiane Morandin, the firm began offering a range of services to clients including designing logos, brochures, websites and flyers.

In 2005, the quality of the company's output secured the Her Business Project Entrepreneur of the Year Award which recognises female run enterprises.

Since winning the prestigious prize in February last year, the company has expanded winning more contracts and widening its design portfolio.

Ms Berova said: "The award definitely helped clients recognise how much our company has achieved. They began to trust our judgment and abilities more and we began winning better contracts.

"Our priority is building customer relations and promoting the business through networking. This is the easiest way of establishing a good reputation in the local area."

Clients now come from as far afield as the United States and Australia and the firm prides itself on its ability to deliver excellent customer service.

The internet is used as an important promotional tool but the personal touch is also maintained through regular working lunches with potential customers in the Sutton, Wallington and Croydon area.

Through this method the company is able to tailor its skills to clients' specific requirements making it well placed to experience another five years of growth.
