A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed and 10 arrests made following a fight involving a firearm outside a Sutton nightclub.

Police say they were called to the Love2Love Club, Cheam Road at 1.30am today after receiving reports of a brawl.

It is understood that during the fighting one man produced and fired a double barreled shotgun – but no one was injured by the weapon.

Although officers have recovered the gun the road is still cordoned off while police investigate.

Speaking from the scene Sutton police’s Inspector Andy Brittan explained: “A specialist firearms dog is searching the area attempting to locate traces of gun powder to find the spent cartridges.”

Nine of those arrested are being questioned at a south London police station while the injured man, also arrested, is being treated in a south London hospital where he is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
