Two people have been caught on camera "spitting" at pedestrians as they sit atop a canvas cover in Wallington.

Katie Gray recorded the youths also sliding down the canvas covering shops in Wallington Square on Thursday night (May 17).

"I’m not sure how they got up there but they were using it like a bouncy castle and spitting at people walking bellow," she said.

"Absolutely disgusting.

"I’m so annoyed because if they fall (it’s a long way down) they will need an ambulance and then it’s taking away paramedics from someone who could be in a fatal way."

When posting the footage on facebook, she queried whether it should be given to police.

"Hand it over even if only to get them to keep an eye out," one person wrote.

"Even if just to protect the kids from hurting themselves."

Another said: "They are not going to prosecute silhouettes or even try to look for them however with the videos they may publish them to warn parents to be sure of the whereabouts of your children and how dangerous the roof could be.

"If nothing else, police will have more influence with the council on making access difficult for naughty boys, naughty girls, or genderless naughty children who may put themselves or others in danger."

But not everyone was so optimistic.

"What use is that footage to the police, you see nothing," somebody said.

In the end Ms Gray said she didn't hand it over to police, but warned other people to steer clear, for their own safety.

"All they need is a tear or rip and they will be straight through the canopy," she said.
