A former computer engineer has set up a learning facility in Carshalton after falling in love with teaching since giving birth to her son.

First Class Learning (FCL) offers tuition in maths and English based on the national curriculum.

Salome Ozgoli, 38, has two first class honour engineering degrees but is now passionate about working with children.

She set up a FCL branch in Carshalton on Saturday, October 14, after working as a tutor in Redhill for one year. Classes will be based at the Middleton Circle Library in Green Wrythe Lane.

"I will be trying to provide the best offer for parents," Salome told Sutton Guardian.

"I know a lot of people are struggling financially. I want to make sure children are where they should be.

"I look forward to working with parents here at the centre and build a bright future for the children. FCL is the best possible venue as it offers tailor-made materials, developed by real teachers"

Unlike private tuitions, Salome said FCL offers more than just classes.

She said: "It is mainly maths and English but we teach other things as well. I use other ways of teaching to make sure they know exactly what they are learning.

"It is all about reasoning and explaining why they are doing something a certain way."

FCL Carshalton can accommodate 30 young people with Salome being free on Saturdays from 10am until midday.

She also has ambitions to open FCL branches in Carshalton Beeches and Belmont in the future.

An open day was held on Saturday, October 14, for parents and children.

"The parents were really happy and some of the children did not want to leave," Salome laughed.
