MP for Sutton and Cheam, Paul Scully, has praised the new facilities at Spire St Anthony's Hospital after being invited for a tour.

Mr Scully was shown around the operating theatre complex, the intensive care unit, the paediatric ward and the new musculoskeletal centre by the hospital's director, Bryan Harty.

“It was excellent to see the new facilities and learn about the complexity of the treatments now on offer to patients," Mr Scully said.

"From the very latest specialist treatment of aneurysms to physiotherapist-lead pilates classes, the hospital is becoming more accessible to patients in the area offering lots of different treatments as well as procedures.

"NHS patients can undergo some treatments at the hospital by asking their GP about E-Referrals. This is something formerly known as Choose and Book and importantly gives any patient requiring a certain procedure access to treatment at St Anthony’s."

Spire St Anthony's unveiled their new £30 million theatre complex last month, September 14, with Sutton Mayor, Cllr Jean Crossby, present at the opening day.

Speaking about the hospital's upgrade, director Harty said: "We are very proud of the hospital’s heritage and place in the local community.

"The investment in the new six theatres and musculoskeletal centre was necessary to ensure the hospital continues to meet needs of local patients and attract the best doctors and medical staff. It is exciting to be able to offer treatment options that have historically only been available in central London.

"We are very proud of the technological and surgical advancements now on offer at St Anthony’s.”
