West Norwood could get its own swimming pool and leisure centre.

Dulwich and West Norwood MP Tessa Jowell has launched a campaign to see the centre built on a major development site in Norwood Road between York Hill and Lansdowne Hill.

She has asked people to give their opinion by returning a slip she has sent out in a letter to residents.

Ms Jowell said her proposals for a leisure centre are the result of a survey she has carried out into what residents believe will make West Norwood a better place to live.

A spokesman for Ms Jowell said 545 slips had already been returned in less than two weeks, with the overwhelming majority in favour of the project.

A swimming pool would be wonderful

Sounds like more Labour spin to tie in with the recent announcement of 'free swimming for everyone' (I'll believe that when I see it)
With there being a pool less than a mile away in Streatham an additional pool is unlikely
