Murderer: Mark Dixie

The man who killed teen model Sally Anne Bowman could face a series of new murder charges.

Pub chef Mark Dixie was jailed for life on February 22 after being found guilty of Sally Anne's murder.

At his Old Bailey trial the 37-year-old had claimed he had only had sex with the 18-year-old's dead body.

The Old Bailey heard how Dixie attacked Sally Anne on September 25 in Blenheim Crescent, South Croydon.

She suffered seven stab wounds in Dixie's coke fuelled attack.

Judge Gerald Gordon told Dixie he would serve a minimum of 34 years before he would be eligible to apply for parole.

Dixie, who moved to Australia in 1993 and lived there until he was deported by authorities in 1999, is now suspected of several crimes committed there.

British police have been working with Australian officers to see if he is linked to crimes carried out in the 1990s.

A former boss of Dixie, who used the name Shane Turner while living there, said it had made her skin crawl to learn he had murdered Sally Anne Bowman and was guilty of a string of other offences.

Val Newman said she was disgusted he had once lived under her roof.

Detective Sergeant James Stanbury, from Western Australia, told Sky: "There's no doubt Dixie is a man of interest to police forces worldwide.

"We agree with the Metropolitan Police that it is possible he may have killed before he attacked Sally Anne.

"If information comes our way about other crimes he's suspected of committing we will investigate."

Detective Superintendent Stuart Cundy - who led the investigation into Sally Anne's murder - said he believed it likely Dixie had killed before.

But D Supt Cundy explained he did not think Dixie was responsible for the Claremont murders which took place in Western Australia in the 1990s.

Dixie had become a suspect in the case after police arrested him for the murder of Sally Anne Bowman and discovered he had been living in Western Australia at the time.

The Claremont murders have never been solved. Two women were murdered and a third woman disappeared in Claremont, Western Australia, in 1996 and 1997.

All three women disappeared from night spots in Claremont, a wealthy western suburb of Perth, approximately 9km from the city centre.

They disappeared in similar circumstances, leading police to believe that an unidentified serial killer may be behind the crimes.

A fourth woman who disappeared in 1988 has also been linked to the case as another possible victim.

However, after investigations the Met have ruled out Dixie as a suspect.
