Cheese Olympians played games such as hoopla and catch the mouse to mark the end of Hampton’s celebration of the tasty snack.

With the London 2012 Olympics just around the corner, the Cheese and Wine Company in Station Road set villagers a range of sporty challenges.

Children enjoyed building towers of cheese boxes and won a prize if they managed to pile them up as tall as themselves.

Participants also played a themed word search and quiz on Saturday, March 31.

They bowled balls into cheese boxes and had to catch the mouse coming down one of three tubes.

The games marked the end of Hampton’s first ever cheese week which saw 10 shops, cafes and restaurants join in the fun.

Steve Parker, of the Cheese and Wine Company, said: “We’ll be holding it again next spring and we are now thinking about Hampton bread week and Hampton sausage week later this year.”
