Beach tennis is coming to the capital for the first time for part of an annual competition tour.

As part of the international tennis federation's 2017 beach tennis tour, London has been added to the calender for the first time and spectators can catch the players battle it out at, Barns Elms Sports Centre Sands Courts, on August 13.

Featuring categories for men's and women's singles and mixed doubles, athletes can enter more than one event and will be playing for world ranking points - as well as British ranking points.

Kasia Chmielewska, director of beach tennis UK, the UK tournament organisers, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to take part in this fun and exciting sport.

It’s very easy to play, great for all abilities and has real health benefits”

A cross between volleyball and tennis, the game is played on levelled sand with a similar size net and court to volleyball.
