Misinformation

2:41pm Tuesday 5th December 2000

John Marshall is doing what he has done repeatedly this year, recycling misinformation to the detriment of pupils, parents and, most of all, teachers ('Teachers can't live on election promises', Times Letters, November 16).

Councillor Marshall knows full well that there were not 45 redundancies in Barnet's secondary schools. It just is not true. Despite repeated rehearsals of the arguments and data in public in the council chamber, Councillor Marshall seems incapable of grasping the facts. Instead he seeks to make political capital out of falsehood. Our teachers deserve better than that, John.

Councillor Alison Moore

Cabinet member for education Barnet Council
