Amanda Knox has said she wants to visit Meredith Kercher’s grave with the permission of the murdered student’s family.

The American student was cleared of Miss Kercher’s murder in 2011 along with her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.

But in March, Italian Supreme Court judges ruled they should face a retrial over the 2007 killing.

Miss Knox is currently publicising her new book, Waiting to be Heard, which is now on sale in America.

In an interview with American newspaper USA Today, Miss Knox said: “I really want to go see her grave.”

“And right now I don't feel like I have the right to without her family's permission. So that's something that I want to work toward to get closure.”

Meredith, 21, was found semi-naked with her throat cut in the bedroom of the house she shared with Miss Knox and two other women in Perugia, in November 2007.

The former Coulsdon and Leeds University student had only been in Italy for two months as part of a year long course as part of her degree, before she was killed.

She is buried at the Mitcham Road Cemetery, Croydon.
