A new 27,000 sq ft superstore is preparing to open its doors in Mitcham for the first time.

Asda will open its new store in Western Road, Mitcham, on Monday, September 3, at the site formally occupied by Smyths Toys, after a 15-year lease was agreed
earlier this year.

More than 100 new jobs have been created as a result of the new store, which is asking residents to nominate a community hero to officially open the store as a VIP guest.

Heroes can be nominated by family, friends or work colleagues and could be someone who has worked to make the lives of people living in Mitcham better or who has gone the extra mile
for a particular cause or person.

Daniel Silverside-Brooks, the new store manager, said: “It’s been a long time coming, but the whole team is extremely excited to get the doors open and do what we do best, which is
serving and supporting communities.

“To prepare for this we want to celebrate those individuals who are already playing their part in the community so we can follow their examples and ensure a true local hero opens our store.”

The person chosen will receive a £100 gift card to spend in store and will take part in the official ribbon cutting duties.

Nominations can be sent via email to prasda@eurorscg.com, or in writing to: Asda Mitcham Hero, 3rd floor, 52 Princess Street, Manchester M1 6JX by Friday, August 24.
