A group of scouts and guides have been chosen as one of Sainsbury’s charities of the year.
The 11th Mitcham Scout and Guide Group were given a cheque for £300 toward a new floor at their scout hut in Mitcham after teaming up with Sainsbury’s in Colliers Wood.
The group has already taken part in a number of games and races for sports relief, another of Sainsbury's charity partners, and will be bag packing at the store during the Diamond Jubilee weekend.
Melanie Nunzet, group secretary, said: "Scouting and guiding help children develop into responsible and caring adults.
"The 11th Mitcham is unique in that it has all six groups represented, Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides and Scouts.
"We also have a thriving Explorer Group for youngsters up to 18 years old.
"We are entirely dependent on volunteers to keep all the groups going and new helpers are always welcome."
