Collision causes jams in South Wimbledon

A collision has caused traffic chaos outside South Wimbledon station.

An office worker based metres from the station said an elderly woman had been hit by a van near the junction of Merton Road and Kingston Road this morning, but the London Ambulance Service is yet to confirm details of the incident.

Merton Road was closed to southbound traffic, and buses have been diverted.

Writing on Twitter at 1.30pm today, Nick Rink said: "Accident in SW19 right outside South Wimbledon Tube station, traffic nightmare so avoid the area at all costs if you're driving."
