Businesses are being invited to discuss Merton Council's budget with its leader.

The consultation meeting with Councillor Stephen Alambritis, other councillors and officers is taking place at Merton Civic Centre tomorrow.

The council is consulting with business ratepayers on its Business Plan 2012-16, including the Budget for 2012-13 and its Medium Term Financial Strategy 2012-16, to give Merton businesses the opportunity to review and comment on the details.

Details of the proposed Business Plan will be considered by Cabinet on February 20 and posted on the council’s website after the meeting.

The outcomes of the consultation will be considered as part of the Business Plan being approved by the council on March 7.

Coun Alambritis said: "This is a great opportunity for our local businesses to tell us what they think about budget proposals in the Business Plan."

"The more we know about what our business community thinks about this vital part of our future, the better."

Businesses wishing to attend should register with Jackie Aitken by calling 020 8545 3325 or emailing jackie.aitken@merton.gov.uk. Businesses not able to attend can send their comments to Caroline Holland, Director of Corporate Resources at Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden SM4 5DX, or email:business.rates@merton.gov.uk, quoting the business name and address.
