School pupils have scooped thousands of pounds for their favourite charity.
Girls from Wimbledon’s Ursuline High School won the money on behalf of homeless charity the Manna Society.
The pupils convinced a panel of judges to hand over the cash during a youth philanthropy event at the school earlier this month.
The team of year eight girls made a presentation highlighting the work of the Manna Society, which runs a day centre for homeless people in London Bridge, in a competition at Ursuline.
Their pitch beat off competition from other local schools, and now the good cause is set to receive £3,000.
The scheme was part of the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, a programme run by the Institute for Philanthropy.
James Townsend, a spokesman for the institute, said: “The pupils at Ursuline high school have worked very hard to raise awareness about the important work of local charities and we hope to work with more schools in Merton next academic year.”
