The first and second floor of a building in New Malden High Street was gutted by a fire.
London Fire Brigade was called to the fire at about 10.22pm yesterday and sent three engines.
There were no people in the building, which is believed was being renovated, at the time and nobody was injured.
Police and London Ambulance Service also attended and the road was closed while firefighters tackled the fire.

Olivia Cowell, who works in Nandos next door to the building, said: “At around 11pm I went outside to see what was happening and saw ambulances, police cars and fire engines all attending to the scene.
“There were a high amount of hoses spraying water on what appeared to be the roof of the building and there was a large amount of smoke. The road and pavement was cordoned off. I left work at 11.30pm and there were still police and ambulances arriving at this time.”
A spokesman for LFB could not confirm whether any investigations into the cause of the fire had been opened.
