The gang trial following a mass axe, sword and machete brawl  in a Mitcham car park has expanded after another man appeared in court accused of murder and attempted murder.

Sugan Selvarajan, 33, of Sadler Close, Mitcham, is charged with the murder of 26-year-old Justin Neel Croos, who died in hospital with severe head injuries two days after the attack in the Sibthorpe Road car park in Holborn Way.

Mr Selvarajan is also charged with the attempted murders of Mahinda Mahndaskaran, Mayuran Gunaretnam, Jeyathpan Ganeslingham and Hassan Rahman, as well as violent disorder.

The fight, on November 23, 2015, is believed to have involved weapons including axes, machetes, swords, knives, metal bars and bottles.

Mr Selvarajan appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 28, and then again at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, November 30. He will appear again at the Old Bailey to enter a plea on February 15.

His trial has been scheduled to begin on April 18, 2017. He will stand trial along with Prashad Sothilingham, 25, of Edgehill Road, Mitcham, who is accused of the murder of Mr Croos and the attempted murder of Jeyathpan Ganeslingham.

Sivakaran Ockersz, 18, of Heathdene Road, Wallington, and Visuparathan Dayaparan, 23, of Phipps Bridge Road, Mitcham, will also stand trial accused of violent disorder.
