Morden Post Office may be moving to a new location in an effort to modernise the branch and extend its opening hours.

A six week consultation is being held on whether the Post Office should move from its current site in Morden Court Parade, London Road, to a site just 250 metres away in the Londis in Crown Lane.

The new Post Office will be open between 9am and 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday, with some services also available outside of these hours when the shop is open: between 5am and 8pm from Monday to Friday and 5am until 7.3pm on Saturday, as well as 5am until 1pm on a Sunday.

Plans for the new Post Office also include two serving positions and a Post Office serving point at the shop till, although it has not yet been confirmed if the cash machine will move with the branch.

Post Office regional manager, Suzanne Richardson said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”

The consultation on the proposals will run until January 20, 2017. To give feedback on the plans, you can email comments@postoffice.co.uk, call the customer helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or write to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, Post Office Ltd.
