An Indian takeaway in Wimbledon has won Takeaway of the Year for London for the third year in a row.

K2 Indian Takeway, in Durnsford Road, Wimbledon, was awarded the title at the fifth annual English Curry Awards in Manchester on Monday, August 31.

More than 15,000 nominations were received from the public for curry houses across England, with the judges visiting the shortlisted restaurants and takeaways before making their decision.

Manager at K2 Saleh Jilani said: "It was an amazing night for K2. Being crowned Takeaway of the Year for London for the third consecutive year is a huge achievement.

"Our success is down to our loyal customers nominating us and our dedicated team."

Khanage Indian Restaurant, in The Broadway, Wimbledon, was also a finalist in three categories at the awards, including Takeaway of the Year and Restaurant of the Year.

400 people attended the ceremony at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, where the evening included a five course meal, live entertainment, fundraising activities and several guest presenters.

The Awards also helped to raise funds for the Amir Khan Foundation.

The charity, which was set up by the former world boxing champion, supports young people from a variety of disadvantaged backgrounds through education, empowerment and encouraging a positive attitude to life.
