Police have reopened a busy Merton Road after an abandoned briefcase reportedly left on a rail bridge was deemed to be non-supicious.
Officers were called to the A24 Morden Road at 8.30am to reports of a suspect briefcase.
They closed part of the road for about an hour while they investigated.
It is understood the briefcase was left on the rail bridge next to the tram stop by the junction with Lombard Road.
It has since been removed and the roads have been cleared.
