A cyclist is in a critical condition after a rush hour accident in New Malden.
Police closed Malden Road to traffic after the male cyclist was hit at about 5.45pm this evening in Portland Avenue.
The 213 and X26 bus routes were put on diversion.
Reporter Sam Chambers saw the aftermath of the accident.
He said: "There was a bicycle on one side of the entry to Motspur Park and one of its wheels was across the other side of the road."
A police spokesman said: "Police were called at around 5.45pm to reports of a car in collision with a cyclist in Portland Avenue near the junction with Malden Road, Kingston.
"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene.
"The male cyclist has been taken to a south London hospital where he is in a critical condition."
