Milkman Mick Hamilton delivered his last pint at the weekend but plans to stay active in his retirement.

Mr Hamilton, who worked at the Wimbledon depot of Dairy Crest for 38 years, thought of his customers as family having served them for decades.

Mr Hamilton, of Morley Road in Sutton, covered the Morden area for 35 years and became part of the community.

Saturday, June 27 was his last delivery before his retirement.

In his long career as a milkman, he has walked thousands of miles and he is therefore keen to keep active in his retirement and plans to join a local rambling club and take up golf.

Trevor Sayer, Wimbledon depot manager said: "Mick’s bubbly personality and enthusiasm for the job will be missed. He has always shown exemplary customer service and he has also been an important member of our team here at Wimbledon. We’ll miss him incredibly but we wish him well."

He will be handing over the ‘milk-bottle-baton’ to his colleague Stephen Kennedy, who has been a milkman for over 15 years.

As well as doing his job, Mr Hamilton went above and beyond the call of duty, taking part in charity walks as well as alerting medical services when he found any of his customers unwell whilst on his round.
