The myth that there is universal backing for the Beddington incinerator within the Liberal Democrat group in Sutton has been blown open.
Councillor Nick Mattey has gone public with his long-running feud with his colleagues after allowing a near 1,500 word letter be published.
In it he criticises his fellow councillors for standing "shoulder to shoulder" with waste giant Viridor to allow the incinerator to go ahead.
He then says he would not be lending his "support to the council on this matter and instead I am backing the Stop the Incinerator Campaign".
Councillor Mattey also handed his party leader, Nick Clegg, a leaflet highlighting issues he had against the Beddington Lane plans during the deputy prime minister's visit to the borough on Tuesday, April 15.
