An historic church is seeking a fourth young chorister to complete the line-up for a scholarship.
A sixth former who sings base is being sought by St Mary’s Church in Wimbledon to join three other teenagers chosen so far to lend their voices to a 40-strong robed choir.
St Mary's Church
The lucky singer will be required to take part in a weekly Choral Evensong every Sunday evening as well as rehearsals at the church best known to millions as the distinctive backdrop to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
The scholarship is open to youngsters in the sixth form, either upper or lower sixth, at Merton schools or colleges.
The Rector, the Reverend Mary Bide said: "We are keen to play our part in keeping alive the tradition of Choral Evensong.
"It seems to be proving popular with our existing congregation and we hope many others will come to enjoy this beautiful, contemplative service."
Any young person interested in applying should contact the church’s director of music, Max Barley on max@stmaryswimbledon.org.
