A Merton mumpreneur determined to jazz-up Christmas dinners around the country could be on to a seasonal winner.

Pimp My Turkey online retail store, selling aprons, sweatshirts, tote bags and greetings cards was launched last month by mum-of-four Elaine Buchanan.

The 48-year-old from Merton Park, who used to run a catering business, was in the process of designing a cookery book when she saw the logo's potential and started printing it on clothes, bags and cards.

She said: "Christmas dinner can get a bit staid. Some people like it plain but if you want you can give it an extra bit of flavour and zamp it up a bit.

"I was thinking of the whole jazzing it up idea and my children watch a lot of MTV so I thought, Pimp My Turkey!"

Mrs Buchanan's sons, aged between 14 and 28, are all fans of MTV show Pimp My Ride, which sees rap superstar Xzibit customise viewers' cars.

She liked the brand so much she decided to launch a gift range featuring the logo before publishing the cookbook next year.

The cookbook will feature recipes including 'pimped' herby glazed turkey filled with chorizo and cornbread stuffing on a bed of parsnip 'straw'.

More quirky recipes designed by Mrs Buchanan include boozy eggnog trifle with a dime bar dusting and very cherry brandy cake.
