Members of an amateur choir joined Joss Stone, Jeff Beck, actors from play War Horse and military musicians in performing for the Queen at the Royal Albert Hall.

Wimbledon Choral Society took part in the official Festival of Remembrance in London on Saturday, performing a matinee before the evening show which included the country’s top politicians and the Royal family in the audience.

It was the 14th time the group, who sent 50 of its members, has been invited to take part in the event, which was broadcast on the BBC.

Fittingly the group is celebrating its centenary year, after being founded by Belgian refugees fleeing their war-torn country in 1914.

To mark the occasion Wimbledon Choral Society has incorporated elements pointing towards its past in this year’s programme of events, including an upcoming performance of Belgian composer Joseph Jongen’s Mass at its Christmas Concert at Southwark Cathedral on December 20.
