An elderly chauffeur has spoken out about being beaten near-unconscious by three thugs who stole his rare Range Rover worth £35,000.

The 66-year-old victim spoke out about the car-jacking which left him ‘almost unconscious’ but insisted he remain anonymous for fear of reprisals from the criminals involved.

He said he advertised the black Range Rover Sport Revere on the Auto Trader website and three men came to collect it but then turned on him.

Police have released images of men they would like to speak to in connection with the robbery which took place shortly after 11am on Monday, October 6.

The man said: "As I shut the garage door they attacked me.

"They kicked and punched me and took the Range Rover and went.

"I was in shock and ran home."

The victim said his iPhone was also stolen so he could not call the police straight away.

The terrifying car-jacking took place in Inglemere Road, Mitcham, in broad daylight where the car was being stored in a garage.

A second man police would like to speak to in connection with the robbery.

The man said he believes it could be shipped overseas in a container to be sold.

Only last week it was reported that 44 stolen vehicles worth £1.2m, including Range Rovers and BMWs from London and Surrey, were found stuffed inside storage containers ready to be shipped overseas.

In this case the car was one of only 30 limited edition of this model in the UK.

The victim, who suffered cuts and bruises after the attack, said: "They were kicking me in the back and legs and head and face.

"Two of them were doing it.

"I was almost unconscious - they left me there."

He said this is the first time he had tried to sell an item online, and he would not be doing it again in a hurry.

He said he bought the Range Rover last year and only rarely drove it so decided to sell it.

A police spokesman said three men arrived at the venue where the car was being sold and spoke about the sale.

The spokesman said: "Two of the males grabbed the victim from behind and pulled him to the ground; they then kicked and punched him several times.

"All three men got into the vehicle and drove off towards Mitcham town centre."

All the robbers were white and aged between 23 and 27, slim and 5ft 11in tall. The first robber had short brown hair, wearing a black track suit top and blue jeans.

The second was wearing a grey woolly hat and light blue jacket.

The third had short dark hair and was wearing a blue top and blue jeans.

DC Gary Baker from Wimbledon CID said "This was a calculated, well planned, and pre-meditated attack with the sole intention of stealing a rare model of Range Rover.

"The level of violence used against the elderly victim was wholly unnecessary and we are asking the public to help us in identifying the two males shown in the attached images or any information as to the current whereabouts of the stolen car."

Detectives are keen to speak to two men captured on CCTV in connection to the incident.

Anyone with information of the whereabouts of these men should contact Wimbledon CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
