Brave youngsters who stood up in front of an audience to share their stories were honoured with awards.

Maisie Howard, 11, Eileen Kutangaza, 10 and Beth Etches, also 10, were honoured by Jigsaw4U, a Merton based charity which supports young people through trauma, bereavement and loss.

Star volunteers were recognised at the event held in the Madeira Hall in Mitcham, where volunteers and members of staff got together to celebrate the charity’s achievements over the last year.

Director of operations Pam Byfield said: "It is to recognise the hard work they have done and recognising that it boosts self esteem.

"We can’t give awards to all our young people, as much as we would love to."

The awards were handed out at the charity’s AGM on Wednesday, October 15, by Councillor Maxi Martin, the Merton Council cabinet member for children’s services.
