A church continued to celebrate its 100th anniversary at the weekend with workshops, face painting and an energetic Afro beats dance session.

Members of St Barnabas Church in Gorringe Park Avenue, Mitcham, got together for the event on Saturday, October 11.

There were various workshops including the Hope UK team who gave a session on drug awareness, a visit from Safer Neighbourhood police officers, arts and crafts and story-telling for the youngsters.

Father Joabe Cavalcanti said: "The children and young people are not only the future of the church, but very much the present and that the church community can learn a lot from them."

The church commended the organisers of the day which was part of a programme of activities to celebrate 100 years of the church.
