Primary school children cooked up a storm to celebrate the publication of a book with recipes from around the world.
Youngsters and their parents at Bishop Gilpin CofE Primary School in Lake Road, Wimbledon, have worked hard to submit tasty ideas and photographs for the book called Around the World in Three Terms.
To celebrate its launch on Tuesday, September 23, children from the school made a variety of dishes for Sainsbury’s staff to try.
There are different sections for each school term, with over 150 recipes for Christmas, cake sales and picnics included. Pupils at the school come from over 35 different countries, with 27 per cent of children not having English as their first language.
Head teacher Matt Ball said: "The book is testament to what can be achieved when the wider community works together.
"We are extremely grateful to all the contributors and to Sainsbury’s in particular. We look forward to exploring other ways of working together, for example raising awareness of healthy eating and exercise amongst our children through their inspiring Active Kids Campaign."
Sales from the book, sold in five Sainsbury’s stores in the borough, will go back into the school’s Parent Teacher Association.
