A woman who suffered at least 60 per cent burns after a fire is recovering at home months after the ordeal.
A 40-year-old man, believed to be the woman’s husband, has been cleared of any wrong-doing after his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder.
The fire at the family home, believed to have happened after a barbecue in the garden, left the 37-year-old fighting for her life in hospital with severe burns.
A police spokesman said the man was released with no further action to be taken following the fire in Kingsbridge Road, Lower Morden in March.
He had also suffered burns but did not need hospital treatment after the incident on Sunday, March 8 this year.
Police were called to the home at about 7.30pm after a barbecue at the family home. The woman remained in a serious but stable condition for some time after the incident.
The police spokesman said: "Following an investigation by Merton Police it has been established that no crime was committed.
"The 40-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released with no further action."
