Prizes for the rudest root vegetables, tallest sunflower and a 5ft pumpkin were awarded for the first time at an allotment summer party.
Children painted bird boxes and made pictures from vegetables to mimic famous artworks and the 50 guests enjoyed a barbecue at the event hosted by the Tamworth Farm Allotment Society.

The event was topped off with a prize giving ceremony for a vegetable growing competition - a first for the allotment in London Road, Mitcham.
Judges for the competition included Ruth Baber from Sustainable Merton, Camilla Ray from the Women’s Institute and Richard Lee, the allotment societies president who awarded prizes for categories such as best allotment, tallest sunflower and biggest pumpkin.

Committee member Pete Lawrence said: "The day was an excellent example of what can be achieved when people club together, leaving very happy faces and full bellies.
"The Tamworth Farm Allotment Society would like to thank all those who helped and attended for making it such a fun day."
The summer party was held on Saturday, September 6.
